Hey RV can you help me? Yes I can.

First things always go first. I want to thank my FB friend and RV fan Lisa Michelle Garrett, representing The LBC! Thank you for sending me this question, I am happy to help.

Lisa Michelle sent me an e-mail yesterday, she had a food question/issue. She was using a slow cooker to make red beans and she came home to a pot of over salted beans. She wanted to know if there was any solution that would save her dinner. There are a couple of solutions that I suggested for this situation.

1.One option is to serve them with something that is bland, like plain cooked rice.

2.You can also slice up a raw potato and add it to the pot liquor it will absorb a bit of the saltiness.

3.The other possibility is to add a bit of sugar, if added in right proportion it can mask the saltiness without adding a pronounced sweetness, add the sugar ½ teaspoon at a time and taste after each addition.

~A side note is that flavors can change with time and temperature. Once the food cools closer to room temperature the flavors are not nearly as sharp or pronounced. Allow food to cool a bit then taste again.

Lisa Michelle advised me that she tried the potato remedy, it worked well, and her dinner was saved. Yay, what a happy day!
